Has any one tried mounting a generator head on to the engine?
I've thought about it but I am unsure how well this will work, such as maintaining enough rpms to run the unit when coming to a stop.

My thoughts are so I can power the ac unit while going down the road without running a seperate gas powered unit.

It will not work because the engine RPMs vary. You would need to maintain the speed at either 3600 or 1800 RPMs depending on the head to make 120Vac 60Hz. If all you are wanting to run is an A/C you can use an automotive compressor or two and build your own system. Most are 15,000 BTUs which depending on how well you insulate and paint colors might be enough with just one. If you are looking to run other AC loads you will have to either run a genny or use and inverter$$.
