I'm looking at inverter generators, gasoline (diesel would work if it was price competitive)

Some features I consider necessary are either remote start, or electric start that I can run a switch to. Only inverter generators I've seen that has such features are in the 4500W range, and they're just entirely too big for my needs, I think I can get away with as low as 2000W generator, I just can't find any that has remote start.

Can anyone recommend a small generator that has remote start?

Thanks Albatross! I knew there would be something that works.
Surprised it works over bluetooth but that sounds like a plus!

If you are going to DC you do not need the inverter part of the generator. The inverter part just helps save your electronics because it cleans up the dirty electricity that is created.

Will you be plugging it in directly to your panel or into some other subsystem?

Mine will be going into a charger and from there into my DC or AC system.

Gasoline generators are cheap and readily available. I personally wanted diesel so I wouldn't have to carry another fuel.

To get electric start-- you have to get the EU3000 model. The rest are all recoil start...

Remember, it's best to keep generator load at 75% of max, full load only for short intervals, if you want to lengthen the lifespan of the generator, not so much for the motor, but for the electronics to keep them cool. So while a 2kw might seem like enough just going by the spec sheet, realistically it shouldn't be used to output more than 1500w at any one time.

So my suggestion is to audit your expected power consumption, add 25%, then find a Genny that has at minimum whatever number that came too, or the closest size above when rounding up.

And there are kits out there to convert a non remote start Genny to having a key fob and remote start. I've seen them for the predator gens from harbor freight.

I thought the app as really just for monitoring and can turn the generator off.. i wasnt aware of the 2200i being remote start capable.. I would want to verify that as i didnt see provisions for a battery. i think the larger eu3200i is electric start...
