friend of mine got a 2016.. "they fixed their issues".. lolol yeah right.. ha! his doesnt burn oil but the electrical system is junk and his A/C is broken a couple times this summer. ..fortunately its a lease so in about 2 months he just sends it down the line.. and it was all under warranty.. fun car to drive.. its a WRX.. 6 speed stick.

Future brother -in-law has leased his last two cars thru Subaru. I don't think he's had any issues with his. Being they are leased, maybe they are doing thousands of dollars of TSBs when he takes it in for the oil change? All the owners are having issues. All the leasees love them.

You got an oil well in the back yard you aren't talking about? I'm spoiled with my TDI these days. Last tank was my highest yet 52.8 mpg. Go get you a Golf or Golf Sportwagon. The wagon is big enough in the back for a twin air mattress for your overnighter camping trips.

With no car payment or full coverage insurance to buy I don't give a squat about mpg's. I'd buy a chevy truck with a 545, auto, and ac if I could get one in my budget. I've even bid on one with an 8.1 vortec.

I keep thinking about getting a Volvo to tow. As absurd as it sounds, an mid-80s Volvo 240 sedan (they're boxy, but they're good) is lighter than a brand new Civic. They have a reputation of running forever and can be towed flat if you disconnect the driveshaft. Problem is they stopped making them and people are getting the idea that they can charge more for them as they get older.

What's Roxy driving to work now?

I'm driving her to work in the truck.
We've looked at several Volvo 240's over the years but they're all clapped out and seem to all have one foot in the grave.
A nice one will set you back 5-10 grand.
We really want one but they're drying up.

Filters are all I've done on the last 3. Haven't even done brakes. First one was wrecked and totaled. Second one was bought back by VW. Third one is the one I have now. All three were after Diesel Gate was announced and the prices had dropped like a rock.

I dunno what I'd get if I had to get new. Chevy has a little 4 banger that's diesel. Discontinued after 2020 tho.

Late model generally means not having to wrench on big stuff.

The Rescue truck will be very happy. Ordered a reman throttle body along with new master cylinder and booster. Bought it all on Rock Auto. If it all works I'll be jazzed. Their prices are very reasonable.
Gonna measure and order a hitch next.

You're not old yet but you probably are the last generation that will have non-hybrid cars. Carb'ed cars aren't extinct (yet) but you certainly have to go looking for them. Anything muscle will come at a premium.

I don't mind walking... when it's in the woods with a backpack on. Walking because my car left me on the side of the road is just no beuno. Any project car will predate my HS graduation.

There is some kewl stuff coming out on the newer vehicles and I get a bit tempted. Who wouldn't get excited about a pickup with an 8 speed automatic transmission? Then I come to my senses and acknowledge that I will probably be driving my 2004 Dodge 3500 (5.9/nv5600) until the day I die.

No DEF or DPF for me.

my dodge ram has that 8 speed transmission.. its a 2017 with a nice 400 HP HEMI in it..



and guess what it has 8 speeds.. well when they all want to work.. lately they have been wanting to do their own thing.. those gears...



it was a Whopping High mileage of 9937.3 yes not 99 thousand miles.. 99 hundred miles... I know things are going to go bad when the 'D' light next to the rotary shifter starts blinking...
