you will want to adjust the BASE timing also.. get a timing light , disconnect the ESC timing wire and then set it to the sticker.. which is usually 0 degrees advance (I know this is not what you are used to for a gasser but the computer controls total timing.)
people often try and mess with the timing on these TBI engines by twisting the dizzy but then they just bounce off the Knock sensor and never truly run like they are supposed to..
id the engine is cammed then you may want to burn a chip with a little bit more aggressive timing in the mid range but stock, the ECM did a decent job..
I found a bunch of the old OBD-1 ALDL software I wrote years ago.. I almost had a TBI Bus but the seller was an asshat so I didnt get that one..

IIRC the chevy guys say they advance the timing like 7 degrees?
I definitely want to burn a chip for it. I want to eliminate the speed limiter, the egr, and I want to set it for a 180 thermostat.
Its not cammed, although a cam and heads would really make it nice!
