Put 250 miles on the car this weekend and its CURED of all coolant leaks yay!
Next up is a new pcv and hose and a good bath.

those dual fans prpobably make ther A/C nice N cold too!

The AC is nice. WAY colder than the subaru's. But at idle its noticeably a bit less cold than when moving.
I did have to move the condenser a bit. Its a little further from the fans now at the top. Had to tilt it to fit the radiator.
We sure do LOVE having cold ac!!!:thumb:

all the newer cars have lackluster A/C to gain fuel economy.. the EPA started making manufacturers test cars with loads like headlights, A/C, weight of 4 average people, etc.. so they use the ECM to cyckle off the compressor at the earliest possible point and cycle it back in later,. which results in vent temps that vary from 45-60 degrees.. so about the time youd start to feel cold air it kicks out.. gets warm then kicks back in..

make sure on your mazda they didnt stick an under-drive engine pulley on it.. that was a somewhat popular mod so it spins the accessories slower to supposedly make more power allow higher RPMs...

Nah, the pulleys are all stock. The only non-stock things on the car are the plug wires and the radiator.

I am glad you are enjoying your new convertable. Our family has owned a '67 Datsun SPL-311 Roadster since it was born. My Dad is currently rebuilding it COMPLETELY ... even has a rotisserie that the body is on right now.

Small convertables are so much fun!

very cool.
My step dad's family owned the Datsun dealer here in our town. :thumb:

Still getting a tiny little drip occasionally from the top rad hose. Just a hunch but since I didn't replace it yet I picked up a thermostat and gasket. I'm hoping this takes care of it!
Also grabbed a pcv valve and hose as well as alternator belt.
Soon as the Celtic game's over I'll get on putting the parts on. Its the Scottish Cup semifinals and we play Hibernian. Hoping we win so working on the car will go a little easier!

Weren't they called Fairlady in the rest of the world?

Found the damned culprit! It wasn't the thermostat or rad hose. A tiny hole the size of a needle in the overflow tube.
FINALLY got it all sorted out. Jeez.

And our beloved Celtic won! On to the cup final!

Funny how such a tiny hole can make such a difference!

Celtic ... Congratulations. Looks like you have a bit more time to cheer them on!

I started a serious search for a Miata.

Craigslist, eBay, cars.com, auto trader, car gurus etc.

I found a handful of likely candidates. Unfortunately, all of them were in Florida.... What's up with that?

A $3000 Miata in Florida becomes a $6000 Miata in Washington State. :(

Chalk that up to one more reason that I should move to Florida :)

Fewer hippies mucking **** up!!

Reach out to people. Find a GOOD canidate, get someone here to drive it for you and fly one way and get it. Or ship it. I think it's about $600 to ship a car across the states.

P.S. Howdy y'all. It's been awhile since I was around (online).

Steve, buying as a toad or just because? What gen?

Its $600 to ship a car to North Carolina from FL. I'm guessing it would be in excess of $1000 to ship cross country.
It's been a few years (3 or 4 not 20) but had a PA buddy buy a forestry truck from OR. I thought he said $600 or $700. If/when he's serious, I can get the shipper name and what-not.
