Been a while. I had achilles repair surgery. But I'm back now.
Got one side of the bus windowed. Made a lot of mistakes but satisfied with the results.:biggrin:
The big windows are 6'x3'. I wanted the entire living space and kitchen to be windowed. The first little window 22"x24"is so I can see to my right at an intersection. The window in the back is 24"x36" double pane to (hopefully) help keep the "bed room" temp regulated. All windows came from tri-county on eBay. <$1000 shipped.
Four windows and four different installation techniques. The smallest window had the trim ring. ( I have 3) was the simplest,of course. Funny how the right side of the bus is the learning curve side. The left side skin looks much better than the right. I'm sure the left side windows will be similar. On the right side of the bus I have probably 8 different fasteners. Rivets, screws, and the roofing galvanized I used to clamp up the wood window surrounds to the skin from the outside. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade, so one one hand I'm surprised about how some of it comes out ,but one the other hand, as Gilligan Phantom on YouTube says "Perfection is the enemy of completion." At any rate. I'm satisfied.
The yellow, we will call it primer:trash:, is rustolem. My sheet metal rusted. During my surgery recovery the bus was at a friends dad's place and although we oiled it it still rusted. Lesson learned. Learn from my mistakes.
PRIMER YOUR SKIN. Or use galvanized if you wont be welding.
Anyway the yellow will be painted over. Was gonna try to stay with a yellow scheme but I hate the color. Moving on.
Looking forward to completing the exterior and getting to work on the interior.
