GVWR

We have a new rule with our insurance here that requires the GVWR to be on the papers for Motorhomes and any other heavier vehicle. I told them mine was 10660 KG ( 23 500 lb ) and they wouldn't believe me !!!!! , was told that all international busses were between 15xxx and 60 xxx KGs, I'm just wondering what others GVWRs are . Anyone with this info handy? they wouldn't let me re-register my bus till this is all worked out with the head office ( I was in on the weekend and head office was closed). Insurance and registration come togehter as a package here , and they have eliminated a whole bunch of catagories for vehicles trying to get it down to LV light vehicles and F for farm trucks , and I guess another one that includes the others..... I even took pics of my data plate to show them, theres just no place in the box that will allow them to use a number smaller than the 15 xxx KG and have the computer accept it ...... sometimes the rings we have to jump through make a guy wonder.

GVWR 24,500# on manufacturer's data plate.

Empty weight listed as 18,000# on title, but that's just a guesstimate that I gave the DMV when they asked. I figured 24,500# - sixty 100# munchkins was about 18,000#.

A related question:

Our GAWRs are:
Front: 12000
Rear: 17500

Out actual weight is:
Front: 11000
Rear: 11000

Is there any need, for handling, safety, parts longevity, or other reasons, to have our front:rear weight ratio be close to the GAWR front:rear ratio?

It might make the steering heavy otherwise, but you're under the front limit so you should be fine. I figure out buses used to haul around a lot of weight back there. On top of that, they're built on basically the same chassis as a dump truck or other medium duty truck where a lot of the weight is obviously on the back. Does make me curious where my weigt stands at.....

Thanks for the reply. I figure if I'm under the GAWRs I should just be happy. And I am.

We weighed ours at a local truck stop. Cost was $8; comes with a very official-looking, stamped, & signed weight certificate. Had the biscuits & gravy afterwards....not bad. (Little America truckstop, Flagstaff, Arizona)

The gvwr on our bus says 33,500. It has a empty weight of 19,220 lbs and that is with a full tank of fuel and ALL the seats in. Once I remove all but the drivers seat, it should weight in about 18,000 lbs, full of fuel. At that weight, I will have a lot of leeway to add stuff.
