Gym-type rubber for sub flooring?

Thinking of using a 3/8" thinck rolled rubber flooring as a sub floor to avoid rot and too much headroom loss with insulation plus ply... This is a tropical to temperate weather bus so dont need a lot of insulation. Was thinking that just enough rubber would even and protect the metal floor, give it a bit of insulation, and tiny bit of give (cushion) to the floor before using flooring or mats in the open spaces of the bus.
Opinions?
Anyone done this?

Gym mat works pretty good as a sound deadener because of it's density. However, as an insulator it isn't so good because it has very little trapped air --like foam and rock wool do for example.

Some rubber gym floors were removed because the floor of gases cancer causing fumes. Be cautious.

It's also pretty heavy. Is there something that will meet your requirements that is lighter?

As far as toxic levels, I was planning to use new rolls and not reclaimed. Does that make a difference?

And weight, thanks. That is afactor that I hadnt considered.

Anyone have another idea for waterproof subflooring?

Not sure about your rubber, but the new materials are usually the ones that are dangerous. In time, they will off gas, so the danger minimizes. However, with time, these materials usually loose some of their insulation ability.
