Happy New Year! 2007

In another post relating to my bus conversion schedule I mentioned that I have a goal to attend Burning Man this year. I've never been to one and it looks so interesting that I'd like to eperience first had what "it" is. While I was talking to my wife about the event and getting her thoughts it occcured to me that of all the photos of the event I had viewed I hadn't seen any pets. Now I know why. I don't disagree with the no dog policy that the event has adopted; in fact, presented with the facts of the situation I'd have voted for the ban if asked. But it does leave us in a situation that we're uncertain of as we've never gone anywhere without the dogs or left them in someone else's care. I still really want to attend but we'll have to mull over our options with regard to them and see how it goes.

Well adjusted dogs are perfectly capable of taking a week or two vacation somewhere
else without distress. The trick is that they must be comfortable with the other place
and the other people beforehand. You start with short stays away and gradually
lengthen. That way the dogs don't worry about being abandoned.
Friends and relatives who already have dog skills, and have time, are best.
I'll ask my brother for tips -- he's an animal behaviorist, specializing in dogs and wolves.

Thanks Elliot,

I had in mind some family members or my business partner Kathy who the dogs spend all day with every day (they go to work with me). I appreciate the thoughts very much.
