Anyone though about a safe for valuables in the bus. I am looking for ideas and pictures.

Yes. As a matter of fact I have thought about installing a safe in my bus. I would use one with a mechanical combination lock so that I could lock my keys, wallet, etc in it while I am off riding my boats on the lake. Of course, I am not going to tell anyone where I would put it but it would be bolted securely to a structural part of the bus. 8)

So you're talking about using an existing gun safe and bolting it down laying flat? Maybe it would fit under a couch.

Exactly what sorts of valuables do ye be havin?

I'm thinking about how to secure weapons when I go camping or travel through different states. Of course abiding with all gun laws. Securing in a safe would be the easiest way to eliminate any doubt.

We have classes for out of state CCW permits here. The problem is that getting a CCW where I live is very difficult. I will look into it when I move.

Some of the places that I had thought of are in the dash area behind a cabinet door, under the couch, above the refridgerator, or under the bed. I kind of like the idea of using the space up front in the dash area. 8)

It would be a bit more labor intensive, but you could cut a hole in the floor, build a steel cage around the outside of the safe under the bus, and flush mount the safe with the floor. Then cover it with a rug or some such item. More work to install this way, but a safe in the floor would be cool.

I also go armed almost everywhere, especially when doing craigslist deals. It sucks that we have to get a permit here, but at least anybody can get one if you meet the qualifications. Michigan is a very friendly firearm state. If you open carry with a concealed pistol license the only places you cannot go are federal buildings, courts, and casino's. as a side note....michigan considers any firearm under 30 inches to be a pistol, so I can carry my mossberg 500 with pistol grip and 18.5 inch barrel under authority of my cpl (ccw)

also, michigan accepts "ccw's" from every other state. So if you are licensed in your home state, you can carry here.
