When the hatch is removed what are the actual dimensions of the hole?
With the holes from the screws you gotta factor in a few more inches, if replacing it is what you're planning. I think my hatches have all been Transpec.
I used 30" squares of 18ga.

I did mine recently, I think with my emergency hatch removed, my hole was rounded in the corners, but closer to 25x25 than 24x24. The hatch itself extended out 27x27 on the top.
I am glad I had 2 emergency hatches, because just having a side window open and one roof hatch popped does a lot of good on a warm day before I have to kick in the roof AC that I placed in the other one.

Two fantastic vents would move a LOT of air even on a stale day. :wink1:
I think vents with fans make a huge different moving down the road just to circulate the air. I want one in both ends, but don't like the thought of no more roof exit.
Crack a front window and turn on the rear fan and it will move a lot of air.
You can get better roof hatch exits than the Transpec stuff that comes on the bus.
RV Escape Hatches, Trailer Hatch, Elixir Hatches
I have short pockets.:wink1:
But those are reasonably priced. Don't like the style much.Oops, it's the angle of the pic makes it look rectangular. $114 for a 26"x26" is reasonable. No fan, and how do get past the crank support bar on egress?
If you really wanted you could even add a fan and have a BIG breezy roof vent that you can climb through if you want/need.Emergency Escape Vent Hatches
26" x 26" With Manual Crank Vent, White Dome & Screen, Simple Release Mechanism For Instant Escape Access, Designed For Hole Size Of 26 1/4" x 26 1/4", Includes 2" 4 Piece Metal Garnish
$100 is cheap vs a leaky one.
They have a lever that you can easily pull that lets you get out in a hurry if need be.

They also have expensive boat hatches. About $300 but they're pretty slick.

I was liking having at least one roof exit still in addition to having my AC. I've seen a few examples of people just hanging a cheap 24" box fan in the emergency exit, which I Think is the cheap way to keep the exit and still get even more ventilation out of it without spending the big dollars for a fantastic fan, some of which cost half as much as an AC.I think vents with fans make a huge different moving down the road just to circulate the air. What size and brand are they?I got two NIB on ebay for $50 each. Share the link on the forum and another member got the rest.
Even if I had to pay the $140 for one I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Its a skylight, it seals a million times better than the factory stuff, and it has a fan that uses very little battery power to run. I put one in my dodge van and can run the fan as much as I want with the van off and I've never had any battery issues. And this is still the battery that came in the van when I got it.

Fantastic powered pop up vents.
Gotta be vigilant for the awesome deals. But if I were at a point whree I wanted/needed one I'd pay retail if I had to.
Some things are just worth it.
I didn't realize how many models of Fantastic fans there are. Originally I ran across an ad for the high end fan that is $300+ which seems a bit much for an exhaust fan. I am sure you can probably find a much better price on one of the fans with less features.
