Have you had to deal with play in the steering?

Vanderbus is a 90 model Ward on a GMC chassis. It has 133 K miles on it. The steer tires are in good shape with no scallops or visible toe in or out. However when I drive it there seems to be to much "play" in the steering wheel. I am constantly moving the wheel back and forward to maintain a straight line. I know there are several probable causes for this symptom but what I am asking is if this has ever happened to you, what did it wind up taking to fix the problem? And is there a website that caters to parts needs for buses. Most parts houses that I have talked to get the hiccups when you tell them you have an 18 year old bus.

Getting a better look at your bus makes me think it's built on a P-30 chassis. That's not big deal though. Any auto parts store should be able to look up parts for that chassis. Most of the stuff interchanges with the other 1 ton cab chassis stuff.

Trust me it is not on a P30 Chassis! Thats what the motorhome I canabalized for Vanderbus was on. It took 16 inch wheels and tires, had weak springs and lousy hydraboost brakes. This bus has 10.00 tires, air brakes, and is 37 ft long. I appreciate your reply and will check out what you mentioned very soon.

Do you have some better pictures than just your avatar? Having experience in the parts business I'll tell you...they have the resources to get the parts you need...you just need to get a decent parts guy that's willing to do a little research for you.
