Heat water pump

The pump pictured is in line to my giant heater that was located in the back of the bus.

Is the pump there because of the long distance and volume through the heat exchanger?

If I relocate it closer to the front (20’ closer removing 40 ft of hose) do I still need the pump?

I figure probably so. Just checking

I don't have a pump on my factory bluebird with 3 heaters. If you've already got it, I would keep it...
