Hello from Florida

You are the man! Would you do a parking lot oil change or anything or just make sure the fluids are all topped off etc and wait till I get home? Any advice on where to purchase tires should the need arise?

Thanks again for being so awesome. :Thanx:

I'd check the oil level and wait until I got home. Also ... check the coolant and transmission levels too. Take Dexron III for the transmission and any Ethylene Glycol coolant will be fine for the trip home.

Tires are expensive. However, on one bus I bid on I knew the tires were not safe to get home, and I found a local commercial tire shop that would have changed them right after pick-up. They had re-cap drives for around $200 each and new steers for around $250 ... That's a $1300 bill straight from the lot, so allow for it in the bid price.

I didn't buy that one so I was okay in the end.

you are going to go 63 MPH at 2600 rpm, I have that rear end and tire size on my shorty and the tranny slip is going to keep you from reaching the 68 MPH, also international shipped all chassis with a 62 MPH governed speed unless ordered otherwise, Eastcoast bought his last shorty from texas and it was governed at 50 MPH

Thanks Kubla! Can you elaborate on Tranny slip so I'm not suprised if I encounter it?

If you have the Allison AT545 transmission, it does not have a lock-up torque convertor.

That means that ALL of your drive is fluid, there is no direct mechanical connection between the engine and the drive wheels.

All the other transmissions lock, at least in the higher gears.

AT545 slips at least 10% at speed due to no lock up torque converter, transmission was never intended for much highway usage, works great in city driving
