Start watching the auctions, and try to find one from somewhere that's not in the rust belt. Rust will cost you a lot of time and effort.

Many of us have gone from factory made RV's to bus conversions because the factory RV's are built soooo cheaply. Personally, I would not have the fixtures & fittings that came in my factory RV in my bus. I want something nicer that "stick & staples".

some of the fixtures in the rv's are fine for bus conversions. i have used rv pieces since 1970 when I built my first bus. items like the stainless sinks, bath sink, are often just right, and i have never had any problem. I normally grab holding tanks from more than one rv, as the last two busses i had over 150 fresh water storage, not to mention two grey n black tanks, two types of water heaters,etc. even things like the bathroom door can be a rv inside door.... i have lived in two of these busses for yrs, and stuff doesnt fall apart as mentioned...

You are fortunate that your factory RV's have had some nicer parts. My $30k Forest River had ABS sink and shower pan. Cheapest of cheap.

good way to go if you want to save lots of time looking for parts (and money)careful around here as some get sarcastic and will tell you your doing it wrong watch for buses that are just retired from schools thomas in des moines had some and they have other locations too around here if you consider a private seller you need to ask yourself why are they selling beware ragbrai items avoid like the plague (poor service and sits tooo long) check school districts and call them i just got a sweet deal 3k for a 71 pass 112,000 miles1998 by watching schools (took about 6 months but summer is the best time to get fresh retires) good luck im by c r

Know of any places that have dead RVs or campers that will let me salvage parts I'm new to the game and have to wait 3 months to get my bus
So I'm trying to stock up on essentials now
