Hi everyone!! I dove into the skoolie world with both feet and what an adventure it has been!! Crazy thing happened one when reading a paper at the dinner table! My wife say an ad for a used school bus for sale and jokingly said we should by it and make it a toy hauler! That started the wheels turning and the research began and I found this web site and I was inspired by what I read!! I did a lot of research and a week later I bought a 1995 IH bus with a Tomas body t444E and a Allison trans!! 162,000 miles one owner the school I bought it from! Our plans are to have a flatbed toy hauler and room for 7 in the cab area! Got started on it Monday and have made good progress !!

A big ol' Skoolie Welcome! --- Sounds like this will be an interesting build. Converting the rear to a flatbed and keeping some closed space up front is not uncommon so a little Googling might provide some experience/pix/ideas. One of the nicer units I recall kept most of the roof in place which became the "covered patio" once the toys were unloaded.

Best of luck and definitely do post some pix!

Sorry little slow at getting back on here!!!! Some what new at forums plus been working on bus!!! Here are some photos project was started Monday July 13th!

So far I am being spending the most time reattaching the back of the bus and trying to work thru the wiring that's not necessary and the door switches are a fun

well, you've got wife's approval coming out of the gate.....

I'd say that's 3/4 the battle won right there!:ermm:

funny when it's THEIR idea, all systems are go!
they have to warm to anyone's idea other than their own

welcome aboard

Ahh. The picture changed. I was responding to a pic I saw of a toyhauler in the previous post. It now shows correctly. Nice underbelly storage. I wish I had such luxury.
Welcome and keep us posted on progress.

wait, now it shows a bus with the rear end moved forward like a toyhauler on post #9. Did you get the bus, remove the seats, cut the rear, move it forward, reattached it and remove any flooring down to metal in this amount of time?

Thanks everyone for the comments and it is amazing how the wife is on board with the whole project and is looking forward to the first trip!! The unfortunate reason for some much being done is the place where I work is currently on a multiple week shutdown!!

Milkmania, you'd better hurry up. See all the fun you are missing. You don't need anyone's permission.

seriously, my ex-wife was absolutely negative about everything..... and ?I mean everything!

when you have someone by your side, you enter everything together, and you can conquer anything, or fail together and learn from it.

Dang, your faster than my first girlfriend!
I just returned from Gretna last week. The weather was great but I had to fly to save time. It would have been so much easier to work on a bus without the humidity we have here.
