Hello all,

Found this site, been lurking for a while and decided to register. We are nearing retirement and have always wanted to travel and are looking at the possibility of doing a skoolie conversion over the next 2-3 years. The big advantage I see is that we can do the conversion exactly the way that we want it and that fits our planned use. Looking forward to learning and contributing in the future.

I wish I could make it up to Franklin TN for the Pilgrimage Festival. I've been wanting to check out Charles Bradley live!
Anyhow- welcome to the forum.

I was up there sort of in your area when I picked my bus up in Elkton, KY. Stayed in Clarkesville that night. The buses in that area are pretty good from what I've seen and heard.

Thanks ECC. We've been looking around locally, although a lot of the ones I've seen in this area have some rust issues in the rear - probably the humidity. I'd rather avoid that up front if possible.

Watch for KY buses.
I've had two that both somehow by luck were from Todd County and neither had too much rust.
Whether or not the school district hoses out the buses makes a huge difference. I don't think my bus was EVER cleaned out at all and other than a thick layer of grossness, the floor is good and solid.
Further west is where the really awesome buses with retarders and higher HP are. Would you be willing to buy a bus in Colorado? That's where I'd buy from if I had to buy another bus.

Welcome! --- You have the right idea. Read as many of the build threads here as you can cram in and you'll start to develop a picture of what will work best for you. Then...find the skoolie that is right for you and do it YOUR way!

Thanks all. ECC - we actually have connections in CO including a place to temporarily store one so thanks for the tip.

CO buses have retarders, making them CHOICE for the mountains. They also don't have serious rust issues, at least usually.
