I am a 16 year old kid from colorado born and raised and i have a dream of owning and creating my very own school bus conversion. I have the know how and the skills to build my dream (at least i think i do) My friends and family think i am crazy and will be broken down on the side of the road. I am here today to get your opinions, Is it a good idea or am i wasting my time and money. Thank you and hopefully one day I will be a proud owner of a magnificent converted school bus!!!

We here can confirm that you are indeed crazy. Welcome to the Funny Farm.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."

"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Been buying and driving old cars, trucks and buses for 50 years. I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I've been "stranded". Only ever had 2 new vehicles. Go for it. With the information available today, you can pretty much figure out how to do anything.

IMHO broken down on the side of the road eventually happens to everybody, so have at least $500 saved up for vehicle emergencies. No matter whether it's a bus or a car.

As you jump in (or before?) get a vision of what you're building and where your personal life is going -- for example, if marriage and family are in your plans for the next 10 years, consider whether you want to build a bus that can be fun now and adapted to suit that lifestyle when it comes, or whether you want to build it for your lifestyle as it is now/in the near term with the understanding you'll be parting ways with it if/when family happens down the road.

Also consider whether you'll be going away from home for college, and if so, whether you'll be able to store it at home or may have to pay for storage to keep it closer to you at school. Or whether it might be your full-time residence while at school -- keeping in mind that in most climates, this means a much more thorough (expensive) conversion job. You'd still need a place to park, though, and that usually won't come free.

Go for it!

Go For It!

I spent nearly 30 years in the Army and it was always the kids that had gumption and worked out issues like the ones that you will face along the way to making this happen that made the best Soldiers.

Make it happen!

Hello, I've gotten so interested in doing a bus conversion. Been researching for almost a year now, and thanks for letting me join this site. I know there are a lot of mistakes I will not be making now thanks to finding skoolie.net
