Hello (Looking for a short bus)

Hi All,

I like many of you have decided to take the school bus conversion journey. I am hoping to find a bus that is under 22ft exterior long. It's been a little hard to find bus makes and models. So if you have sugestions!

I am a young man who is a single traveler. I hope to park it on my parents property while I am in college.

I think you have to take a number and get in line for the shorties.
Nah... You can find what you want. But short buses tend to sell for more than the big ones. More people are after shorties.

IDK, the shorties I see usually are cheaper.
Most exporters and dealers want the maximum size.

22 feet is tough unless you go van cutaway.. my redbyrd is right close to 22 feet and its a 6 window.. Bluebird did make a 5 window at one point but they are pretty rare to come by..

I see a bunch of nice 6.0 vans listed on the auction sites lately.

It'll be a lot of them. There are some SWEEEEET vans out in Cali on GD right now.

Have you been looking at any buses in the size you want? If you're actually going to live in your bus you might consider something a tad larger. There's no problem if you've got to much space in your bus, but there's a real problem if there's not enough space in your bus.

I'm just suggesting that you try to draw up a floor plan that works for you and see if it can realistically fit into a 22' bus/van. Personally I like having an open cargo area in the back of my bus that can house building materials for the build, and later will haul a dual sport bike.

Find a place that has buses and see if you can test drive a few to gains some experience and get some ideas.

while bus dealers often WAY over-charge on price for used busses.. they are a great resource to at least go look and drive busses or crawl inside them to get an idea how much space there really is inside... and howe hard / easy certain busses are to drive..

just because you look at a dealer doesnt mean you have to buy a bus there.. but if you do find a good deal then you always can..

once you know what bus you are after then you can hit the auctions and look for good prices and snag a bus!.

This seems to be a van chassi.

I would love something like this

But a tad smaller. Though maybe I should just check it out.

I was looking at a van chassie Ford Corbeil E450 and a International Thomas Vista. Both are supposed to be 22'6'' I am trying to find ones like them near me.
