You are from the rust belt. You know all of the issues in regards to rust.

You have to ask yourself if the rust is beyond repair or not. The standards of beyond repair are different for those of you that live in the rust belt compared to those of us who don't.

Sheet metal is relatively easy to repair.

Structural becomes a major issue and a major expense.

My two cents: trailer hitch and already gutted have only a couple hundred dollars value, so don't weigh those too heavily in your decision. To me, powertrain, body length, and rust are most important because they're things I don't want to deal with fixing/changing.

A clean, straight bus is worth more than a rusty gutted one. The bus my friend drove down from Michigan was beyond rescue. Deep, flaking rust all over the frame and in every seam. Even the wheels were heavily corroded.

Interesting... the links are there in the e-mail preview of your message, and they're there in the HTML source of the forum web page too. They just don't show up in my browser (or others' browsers apparently).

Ahh, ok, I think I understand it now. The link you pasted is for a web page, not for the image file itself. The bulletin board software doesn't recognize this, so it emits an <img> HTML tag with the link. But the web browser finds that it gets an HTML page instead of an image file, and of course that doesn't make any sense, so the whole thing disappears. Further, it gets really messed up when one tries to edit the post!

Anyway.. the link, viewed in the post editor window, should look like this (minus the spaces around the square brackets, which I inserted to prevent the bulletin board software from recognizing it as bbcode):

and here's what happens:

See the difference? The imgur link formatted for use in the [ IMG ] tag so that it points directly to the source image adds "i." in the server name portion, and adds ".jpg" on the tail.

Id run from that bus. People always compromise and buy rusty buses. For an extra thousand and some patience, you can find a bus without rust. Rust never sleeps, never stops, and will ALWAYS cost more than you think to repair. Id swap a motor or tranny before I bought a rusty bus.

Unless it was really old, really cool, and I had a lot of time and money on my hands.
Stick it out. Wait for something good. I bet that thing is like swiss cheese under the subfloor. The frame even looks like ****. Dont do it.

Yikes! I think I can see the frame flanges starting to separate. I'd say run away. And I'm from the rusty midwest.
