I had a bus back in my Grateful Dead & Phish days. I lived in it for 4 years. When I sold it I saved my solar panel and the rest of my power system. I sold it in 2001. I am once again looking to buy another bus. I dont mind traveling when it comes to getting a great bus. I could use some help though.

I need to find some good sites or other means to find good busses. I have limited funds ($2000) and even more limited time.

With two sick parent over 1000 miles apart. I have decided to move into a bus again. Makes it easier to go take care of them with out disrupting my home life. I have about 3 weeks to get my new home.

Thank to all links and hints!

Finding and buying a good bus

This is a very subjective subject. All decisions have to do with the buyers perceptions of the bus to be considered. I am a big Crown bus fan. Recently, I got a bus from Ebay to make into bus parts. After driving the bus for 4 days across the country, the bus is really great. Now, I cannot bring myself to make the bus into parts. The bus is a 1991 International powered by a 7.3 diesel and Allison AT543 trans. The rear axle gears are too low at 5:60 and road speed is about 55 MPH. The fuel economy was about 4.5 MPG. Other than needing some different rear gears, this bus is super good. The front tires are nearly new Michelins and the rears are very good. Every system works great. I paid $3250 for the bus. Flying to Kentucky, motels, food and fuel was another $3000. I think this bus is great. The seats are now gone and trying to make a decision. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Frank

I am hoping that maybe I will find more internet sources for purchasing a good Bus. I am looking for a well running Skoolie to turn into my home. I have collected most of the parts needed to do this except a good bus. I only have about $2200 to work with. I know someone out there knows some good sites to shop.

I am very serious about my inquiry. I will of course after purchase keep a well documented journal of my build.

I have a feeling that people on this board think I am an Novice. I am not. I am looking to find myself a good bus before the end of this month. Any help with helping me find sources of good retired buses would be greatly appreciated. I know with so many lovers of Skoolies on this board, there has to be a few of us who know of good sources for used good condition buses. If you do please post some links to good websites for used buses.

If for some reason you feel it is not a good idea to post the links please pm me.

i would gladly post the links if i had any, but i've purchased all of my buses direct from the school district. I have checked out a few "dealers" but their buses always seem to be way over priced.

i think someone must have the link for Greg and some of the buses he sells. I've heard nothing but good things about him and his buses.
