Hi! I'm new to the group and am looking for opinions on this shuttle bus in my area. It's a 1995 ford e-350 econoline with a Turbo 7.3L diesel engine. The seller just fixed an injector and starter but says it stills needs work on the motor. He said it drives but just needs more power. He doesn't know for sure but says the turbo may have gone out. I plan to have a mechanic come to look at it before I buy to see how much it would cost to fix. The price is 3k and it has 200,000 miles. I have attached pictures of it and would love to hear if yall think I should go for it or keep looking! Thank you!

that year of 7.3 was mixed as far as which 7.3 was in them.
either the 7.3 IDI or the 7.3 powerstroke.
in 96 the 7.3 IDI was phased out.
definitely have a mechanic look at it because injector problems and bad turbo at the same time could have caused other issues if ran to long like that.
what was the problem with the injector?
not opening not closing?

i am having some work done on my 6.0
one injector wasnt working when cold then was ok when warm.
$235 for injector, $90 for a updated standpipe $30 bucks for a dummy plug.
was 5 hrs labor in my E chassy.
i had some other things done when i was in there ( semi-bullit proof )
my turbo was OK but was starting to wear out.....
i got a brand new OEM turbo with like 20 upgrades since 2005 for $850 at thoroughbred diesel. wich was cheaper than the shop could get it.
just to give ya a idea on prices.

definately take it to a shop if you can.
if your really interested.
not sure on that year but for $100 most shops will plug in and check on codes.
do a good check up and give you a honest opion.

i had also had 2 glow plugs not working.

the shuttle looks good and prob a fair price but keep in mind mechanical cost.

i would concentrate on mechanical dependability more than the the conversion.

all buses and shuttles are gonna be wore out LOL
thats why they are bieng sold LOL

repairs & towing on the road can be costly and unexpected.
thats why i am doing preventative maintenance.

yesterday when the shop was doing the test drive the vacuum pump took a ****. i went there and you could hear it and it affected the brakes among other things.
theres another $285 & a few hours labor.

glad it broke then instead of on the road.

i have already been camping 13 times in it luckily never broke down. but i knew it was probably coming LOL

hope this helps on some decision making.

have a great day!

with a stock 7.3 you have plenty of torque but not horsepower.
the upgrades are bigger injectors, newer injector control module and at least a junk yard turbo off a 2004 or newer powerstroke i think they are garrett gt 40's.
if the injector was over fueling then an oil change and the other injectors are probably not far behind.
just thoughts in my head if it was mine.
but have been a mechanic for quite awhile and my son is a ford mechanic so some of this is our combined opinion.
good luck
