So we aren’t as “Bus savvy” as we need to be yet. Can anyone tell me what this is and how necessary it is? It’s mounted on the floor in the back right corner. We are thinking it has something to do with the rear A/C, which we were thinking about keeping, but if this is some sort of filter that needs air circulation around it, it may have to go. We were planning on building a raised platform for the bed here. Thanks’

hard to tell....

I thought you were describing a rear heater, but what I see, looks like an air filter..... sorry not enough picture to tell.

The heater works off the engine coolant (which is why it only works when the engine is running), so there should be a pair of hoses leading to it from the engine. Your pic is too dark and my eyes are too weak to see what's going on there.

That's just like the heater I removed from my bus a couple weeks ago.

I freed up all the hose and wiring and took the whole unit out of the bus BEFORE removing the hoses from the heater so I didn't make a mess in the bus. I did it over a drum so I didn't make a mess outside the bus either...

Then you'll need to pinch off the hoses and join them together wherever it's convenient to your coolant plumbing.

My initial thought was a heater core. Upon a closer look it could be an air filter. As said by others, the picture does not show enough to tell. Any chance of a picture from above?
