Hey! New to this community. Stoked about it!

Looking for some input on a bus I found that’s caught my interest.

2004 GMC Safari Cargo short bus with 46k miles.
Still waiting to hear back about engine type.

Any thoughts from those with experience? I’m a total newbie @ ground zero. Anything is appreciated!

Peace!

It's a Thomas round-top coach. Which is a good thing. I personally avoid any squared looking roof angles. The coach on this one is built like a 30,000lbs school bus - designed to take an impact - a side impact from a Honda Civic should bounce off and not pass through the coach (and your family). To me, that is worth a lot more than any minibus (anything with a F350-F450 or GM/Chevy 3500 van front end attached to a bus coach) with a wood/fiberglass (like most motorhomes) coach.

No school bus items to remove, it's white under that wrap (so you don't have to paint it), and it's got a rear AC. About as much as you can ask for in something that size.

The price seems on the higher end - but a CA bus with that mileage is pretty much brand new, and NOT having to paint it is a big plus.

Yeah it’s 6L v8 gas.

Been reading up on gas vs diesel and it seems diesel is the way to go. Thoughts?

Feels like this bus is a pretty nice find...

That gasser will serve you well in a smaller bus. In a 17,000 pound full size bus, not so much, especially once it gets over 20K after conversion. There's one forum member whose bus weighed well over 30K (I think 36K?) and even his DT466 is underpowered (for him).
