I've given up trying to insure and register my bus in California. Does anyone know of a state I can insure and register my bus for personal use, travel, camping, etc. ?

CARB in Commiefornia will no longer register older Diesel Buses that to not meet emissions standards if not already registered if over 14,000 lbs.

Also as of 2023, any buses with GVWR over 26,000 lbs must have a 2010 or newer engine or an equivalent aftertreatment system to be legally registered in CA.

If you are in California, you suck for not standing up against this regulation and allowing this to happen.

I have an idea for you @BusBiz but I will not share it publicly as I don't want it to go viral and be abused and then be outlawed. I'll DM you.

@nikitis, Don't you think it would be nice to at least wait until the op explains his predicament before you go off on your rant? It may not be an emissions problem.

I mean just because you have questions and weren't clear on the explanation given doesn't mean others are. I've already DM'd him a solution he could investigate.

Looks like based on his profile he has a 2014 with a 6.7 Cummins. Not sure why he cant get titled and insured if the 2010 and newer thing is the hang up.

Motorhomes have been exempt from the 2011 or newer engine thing so far. They must be smog checked though to be registered. I don't think that has changed.

Have you tried liability Insurance only? We have AAA on a bus registered as a motorhome.
