I put two layers of elastomeric paint followed by two layers of Rust-Oleum. It bonded well and looks good, easy to clean and made a huge difference in keeping the temperature down in the sun. It does scratch easily so be careful when leaning ladders against it.

Thanks for the info @ECCB - I didn't realize Bus Kote was just elastomeric paint, but with magic beans, err I mean magic beads! Awesome work on the testing, @jazty!

Yeah I don't see any reason to go the Bus Kote route and instead use what I can get here for cheap. I know not everyone likes elastomeric paint, but for the price, I'll give it a go (AFTER I've made sure the roof is sealed from leaks, of course).

I did mine in “Koolseal”. Brand elastomeric coating about 2012. I did recoate it in 2015. Mine was on top of bare (25 years) weathered aluminum. It is stuck on good.
I highly recommend it.

I have it and my roof looks amazing. The rest of the bus, not so much. I also feel it's done wonders in terms of regulating the interior temperature of the bus.

I believe we did 2 coats, used a roller. It did go on pretty smooth. It's very matte but really looks good.

CORRECTION: Mine did look amazing but I took out a tree branch on a narrow suburban residential street the other day, and now it's got a big paint gouge.

Since Henry's can't be painted I suppose I will need to prep and paint the area of transition before coating the roof. Does it leave a thick tape line when it's applied thick enough?
