After thinking about this for a few months, I bought a short bus. I plan to turn it into a toy hauler for mostly dirtbikes. It will also haul our riding/camping gear and anything else to support our playtime.

Here's my dirtbike, 1998 Kawasaki KLX300R

Thanks EastCoast!

Im trying to find out what I am required to do to drive my bus in Cali....
License & Reg are done.
What I am looking for is the Do & Donts, I keep hearing pieces from well intentioned friends, but cant find anything on it.

I relocated the top lenses, reds in the rear and ambers in front, but I was told they cant even function. Is that right?

I removed the Stop Sign, because I dont want it. But is it a requirement?

Now I am hearing that I have to paint it some other color than the yellow. Is this right?

I believe the "School Bus" decals have to be removed, which I would do regardless, but its nice to know.

What will I hear next?
Is there a sticky on state by state requirements somewhere that I am missing cause I am looking tooo hard??

Here are the NJ requirements. I know you're in Cali, but they might provide some guidance for you-
NJ MVC said:
* Motor Home Vehicle Type = 05 Required Modifications
 Remove most seats from the bus : In order for the bus to be converted to an RV, the customer must make the following modifications to the vehicle:
Remove emergency lights including the side mounted stop sign
Repaint the exterior of the vehicle (Cannot remain any shade of yellow)
 Install a permanent bed or sleep sofa
 Install a permanent sink or bar sink (Must be in working order)
 Install a permanent stove or microwave

You might be able to get a way with red outboard, amber inboard on the back for high-mounted brake and turn, but it'd just be easier to plate over the front mounts, especially since they'll leak. If welding isn't something you're comfortable with, Tap Plastics does 4x4 samples that should fit over the mounting holes, or you can custom order.

I've decided the forward facing flashing lights are going away. I might put in 2 Marine type speakers for PA or Stereo use. I will be mounting off road lights up on the header. Paint is also happening soon.
