Hi Guys

I am new to this wonderful forum and there is so much wonderful information on here - Thank you!
I got my bus yesterday and I am starting the process of getting it ready.
Taking the seats out will begin soon, So if anyone has any useful tips re taking these out, that would be wonderful..

If you have a heavy duty air or electric impact you can use it to tighten the bolts till they snap off. That's one of the quickest methods I know of. Otherwise a grinder with a cut off wheel can be used to cut the heads off.

Welcome!

The seat bolts in this 1984 GMC bus were simply bolted into the wood and came right out with a socket wrench. Did the entire bus hy myself in about 3 hours.

I think I will be trying the Impact route first as I tried using a socket set and the bolts just rotate.

Also as I am 6'3" I welcome all and any ideas re extra headroom or Lower floor ideas for the shower and cooking areas.

if your bolts just rotate with a socket set impact will not help you much.. you will need to go at it from underneath and place a helper wrench on topside in the bus..

they are bolt and nut as opposed to lag bolts on most busses..

mahy of us had bolts that were rusted in place so an impact wrench or long ass pipe would just breakl them off.. if yours actiually spin then go at it from top and bottom.. a second person will make this go quickly as they can get at the bolts with a wrench from underneath to hold while you air impact or air ratchet from the top..

the ones you can reach from underneath you grind off inside the bus..

So I do not have an Impact gun yet - looks like I don't need one.

If anyone has any other helpful ideas re removing the seats on your own - I am all ears..

if the bolts spin you can grind them off or you can put vice grips on the inside part then use a socket set from under neath.. but you'll proibably find that getting a grinder and grinding will work faster than havinfg to crawl from in and out of the bus a zillion times .. you can grind away from the inside then hammer the bolts through from the top if they dont just fall through the holes onto the ground.

Hi Guys
Finally got All the seats out today!!!
Any one who says this is easy - obviously did not have a bus built by the same guy as mine, who must of been on a commission for 1/2" bolts!!

So pleased and sore - but happy!!

My floor does not have any wood on - just rubber on metal.
It looks like I have some rust to deal with and a hell of a lot of holes.

Is there a simple way to plug these even though they are rusty?
