I'm brand new to this community. I'very been doing a lot of research and am about to go look for my first school bus to convert to my home on wheels. I lived in a VW bus with my family in the 1970's for a year and lived of the grid in a cabin in the Adirondacks when I was in high school. I definitely an ready to get back to simple living and I'm happy that this forum exists to help me learn some things. I live in NYC and next week I'll be going to PA to check out some buses. If anyone has a recommendation on where I can start in my area, I'd much appreciate any advice.

Howdy Kat...and welcome to the Madness! --- If you are shopping skoolies locally (in the NY area)...just be extra cautious about rust. There are relatively new, low mileage units that are about to fall apart due to road salting. It can eat major metal components in very short order and is not something you want to have to deal with.

Best of luck on your hunt. Just read as many build threads as you can and you will begin to get a picture of the make, model, engine & tranny that will serve you best.
