I am leaving the link cold (replace the first H in address to fix dead link)

ttp://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1728861_Some_interesting_colorized_photos_of_the_past.html&page=1

Possibly NSFW, there could be offensive language depending on what is offensive to the reader/viewer

Do not click on link and get upset, do not explore site on your own you could be offended

This is history and needs to be remembered as such, there is good and bad, it is how we process and move forward

So now that the warnings are over, there are some very cool pictures in the thread

I'll see if I can find where this was at in Old Orchard and get an updated pic this summer. Old Orchards a ghost town for a couple more months. In June, the tourists really show up and fill the town to bursting.

Malkieri... My grand parents took me to Old Orchard Beach many times growing up. Are you still familiar with the area? I was born and raised in Mass and moved to Georgia in 1977. My hubby is from North Carolina and has never spent time in New England. Old Orchard is on my lists of places to take him and I would love to know if there are places where we could stay with the bus. I prefer off season as I feel that you get a better feel for the area when the locals aren't all hiding from rude tourists.

We are about 30 minutes from OOB, best time of year to come is between mid-April and the beginning of June, or Sept-early Oct. June, July and August it is swamped with tourists, still a good time though. There are many campgrounds all over OOB and Saco, I'm sure they are mostly skoolie friendly. Most of Maine's not a real snooty place..lol **** they keep letting me come back after being foolish enough to move away.

We still have Drive-in theaters, that's right multiple drive-ins. There is 1 in Saco less than 10 minutes from the beach. If you want me to scout a campground for you just ask.

Google maps street view works for OOB if you want a virtual trip down memory lane. There are also a ton of condos and houses that are rented out in the summer all up and down the Maine coast.

Skoolies may have less luck finding space in the Kennebunks, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth and Ogunquit. I would search those last, and they are going to be spendier than other sections of the coast that actually want tourist monies.

There is a Walmart and Home Depot just off the Biddeford exit of the turnpike and you could probably spend a night or 2 there as well.

Cool...glad to hear it. Not sure when we'll get in that direction (I need to work on keeping an addy book for skoolie people) My addy is: BOOGER1K@GMAIL.COM send me your CITY STATE/NAME in the header and I'll finally start my list & you will be the first one in it.

We've had our bus 2 1/2 years now and are still not done. Hubby & I both fell sick and that has slowed down our progress.

Got about halfway through when the PC crashed . . .
I loved the Brian Williams comment.

Broadway in Saratoga Springs is pretty much the same as back then, except the carriages are now horseless and there are more of them. Plus Broadway itself is now black and has lines painted on it . . . .

Glad you all enjoyed the pictures and sorry about link, I couldn't figure out to leave it "cold" this site automatically hotlinks

On the edit there is no "space" weird, site does it auto also
