Recently purchased a 1966 Ford N600 with 1995 Freightliner Allison 545 transmission. Hooked backup light switch on Allison 545 transmission. Turned on key without starting engine, with vehicle in neutral, lights went on. When put into reverse or drive, the lights went out. According to forum posts, the lights should not come on if engine is not running. Not sure what could be wrong! Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong or how to fix it? Thanks for your help!

With the engine running, back up beeper beeps in neutral and lights go on. In reverse, beeper and lights go out.

Someone hook it up wrong on your transmission. Or shifter wherever that is hooked up at. Should be wired to reverse only.

Awesome, Great!

So what did it end up being? Inquiring minds want to know.
