Hose from engine block venting exhaust underneath bus?

Don't know, but I'm thinking Road Draft Tube, for crankcase ventilation. In which case that "exhaust" might be excessive piston-ring blowby.

More importantly, I think you have just seen a good example of why you should buy a bus directly from a school district, and not from "one of us" who has bungled the thing to death.

You're right EG, those are rusty oil filters. That takes years of neglect to get to that point. My M1009 daily driver was parked in a government field for three years without any care and the filters did not look that bad...
