How much diesel can you skoolie hold?

60 gallon tank in my bus. not sure of MPG as I am still building it and haven't taken it on any trips yet.

i have a 85 gal. tank in my 47 white from my old itasca.. i get 15mpg or so if i keep it under 60mph.. i can get from south missouri to kingman az no problem..i always tank up before crossing into california

Thanks to everyone who has responded. What is considered to be a "good price" for a 100 gallon tank? Is it easy to find rectangular tanks? I would like to put a fuel tank and a couple of water tanks between the rails of the frame and rectangular means better use of space.

Your definition of "good" may be unreasonable if you can't find one in your price range.

Yes, good quality things are expensive. I was hoping to find someone who had found a substitute product that was cheaper, i.e. a gas tank from a 2005 Kenworthy that could be purchased from a wrecking yard for $200, etc.

182 gallons - 1200 miles-ish. Couple more advantages - choice of fuel stops (best pricing) and, if using diesel for heating - lots of heating "time."

That isn't a school bus, is it? I thought this forum was for Skoolies. It says right there at the top of this page "The school bus conversion network".

ALL are welcome!

We try to be tolerant of beliefs, opinions, gender orientation, skill sets & knowledge bases, mental stabilities, and former occupation of mass people-movers in their prior incarnation...

With specific forums for "Coaches", we are also in a forum now for "Conversion General Discussions." So totally appropriate.

Finding a good used tank for $2-300 would be a fair price in today's market, you'll probably need to get the brackets too. I'm looking to follow a similar path with mine.

I have seen some rather large rectangular tanks attached to the outsides of cement trucks and such. They look to be well over 50 gallons. I have tried googling for those and never have productive searches. Any suggestions for how to search?

Yeah, call some big truck junkyards. A word of advice - aluminum tanks won't rust like steel tanks can (if this sounds like the voice of experience talking, that's because it is.)
