How old are you? -Age of school bus converters

I turned 27 just before Christmas.

3 years ago on that fateful day, I didn't leave the house in the morning planning to buy a bus. She just kinda followed me home from an auction.

The bus has changed my life. I've met thousands of people i never would have met if i didn't have a bus, including tons of hot women! In the summer, nearly every weekend includes plans for the bus. My vacation planning almost always includes plans for the bus too.

I work as a paramedic, and patients of mine on occasion say to me "are you the bus guy?" Seems everywhere i go i'm known as the bus guy.

I have temporary tattoos with the bus logo on them, bus t-shirts, and bus business cards.

Not sure if it's a good thing or not, but the bus seems to have taken over my life!

LOL Andy That's the great part about bein "over the hill". Ya generally get to hang on to a little bit more of the cash. Course, bein a penny pinchin Dutchman helps a lot also.

I am 44, and my wife is 54. We decided to get our bus because it was way cheaper than renting a moving van. We picked up our propane powered 1986 carpenter B700 with a ford 429 air brakes and automatic transmission from a school for $500. They thought there was something wrong with it. There was, and after about 1000 miles of out 2100 mile road trip we discovered that it had a "questionable" ignition coil. We replaced that and it has ran perfectly ever since. it only had 166000 original miles on it when we bought it. My house is fully paid off so I am going to get a mortage to allow me to fully deck out the bus. may end up selling the house when I am done. haven't decided yet. Just don't tell my wife

HUH!?! 4 time 11 equals 44, 33 times 11 equals 363 ! I guess it's a mute point anyway since I got my own age wrong in my original post, which only proves that I can't count to 21 without dropping my drawers, and even then I come up short!

I think he means 33+11=44 since you have a birthday every year, but I see what you're saying. I guess your both right depending on how you look at it.

This might seem kind of bizzar but I am only 14 and 1/2. I have already started looking for a nice bus for my skoolie project. My projections show that I will have close to $3000 by June. I plan to buy one over the summer and have it all converted by by 16th birthday.
I like working on all sorts of cars but ever since I rode the bus in elementary school for the first time it was love at first sight.

I was 32 when I first purchased my big girl but I have been dreaming about scootin' 'round the country in a bus since my HS years. Its a vision realized (along with owning a horse) that though takes time is worth the effort.

As I tell people who ask me why I bought a bus as suppose to a used RV-in the end it will be better than a fiberglass overpriced copycat RV. She will have a unique signature about her, be higher off the ground w/o having to lift and when it comes to accidents she'll hold up better. Plus the challenge of it all

Oh dear, 61 years old. Hill, Hill, I didn't see and darn Hill, how can I be over it?

Always loved busses, did a dognose conversion before, owned a new stick and staple camper, lost big bucks after one year.

My old Bird is a 1979 33 foot, Cat 3208, Allison 4 spd. She is not pretty, but she is heavy and slow! Needs everything but a new engine. The guy I bought it from put a factory rebuilt engine in it 1500 mile ago, then could not get all the lights working so he could pass inspection. He transferred to DC, and decided not to try and move the bus. My gain.

Anyone else out there had this dream of owning a school bus since like 3rd or 4th grade? It seems to me like every red blooded american male has wanted a bus at one point or another. I'm just happy to know that I've finally realized this american dream. Call it manifest destiny....

Here's my first post - I'm 49 but the wife and I have owned our bus conversion for over 20 years. We love the thing. Don't get to use it near enough but have never been able to part with it. We went thru a period about 15 years ago where we really needed cash and had some Dead Heads offer us some cash for our bus... they started talking about how they were going to stip her and such and well, we just couldn't do it. Needs constant attention but what doesn't. Carry on. Sturgeon1
