I'm looking at a Ford transit van seat like this to mount in the front of my bus on the right side for passengers (because it has integrated shoulder belts):

I've never seen one of these seats in person and I don't know how the mounting system works. Is that bracket something that just lays flush on the floor, and I would just have to put 5 bolts through the floor for each rail?

I used the 3 person bench with recline function, but it should mount exactly the same. The rails shown accept 3 1/2" bolts per rail, so I reused the bolts that were holding down the stock bus seats and drilled new holes where I wanted them. Used the existing bolts and washers(regular on top and fender under the floor) that came with them on both sides and it feels really solid.

Since you're shopping Transit seats, I'd suggest the models where the seat backs recline like this one

My space for this is pretty tight since I'm building a bulkhead wall just behind it. So whatever space I devote to leaning back gets subtracted from my living space. These seats are just so that people riding along don't die in an accident - I don't want to actually encourage anybody to ride along. :hide:

Plus, the fixed ones seem a lot cheaper which is nice. Apparently there's also a variety of double seat which is only 31" wide. I'm going to get one of these if I can, or possibly even just a single seat.

Your comment about reusing bolts made me laugh, since I had to cut the heads off of all my rusted bolts to get the seats out. :) I've been meaning to ask here where to get proper new bolts, nuts and washers for these seats.
