But this is actually a happy story! The first time my bus was broken into, they stole power tools (a drill and a grinder), a bunch of hand tools and my generator (although I later found the generator behind another truck at my lot - thank goodness for crappy jury-rigged wheels). The second time, after I was smart enough not to keep my tools in the bus any more, they broke in and stole my masking tape and sponges (professional courtesy as far as I can tell, gotta steal something).

This time they stole the seats, ceiling panels and rear heaters from the junk pile behind my bus. Meaning I now have about 1/4 as much crap to haul off to the dump. I probably would have paid these guys $100 to do it. I was planning to salvage the sheet metal backs of the seats, but I'm happier to just have everything gone.

In reference to your last line, DON'T SAY THAT!!!
It is likely it's the same low-lifes on this pilferage hat-trick, and once they find the wells' gone dry, may well try to take the well!
You gotta find a better place to make your mods...

Start fighting dirty, set some bug bombs next time you leave. They might come again, but they won't come back.

I only have until the end of this month in that spot before I can move the bus down to where I live (no more 40-minute drive to get there, either). I will definitely miss being a quarter-mile from Home Depot and Lowe's, but I will not miss all the used syringes.

That's hilarious they stole your junk. I'm hoping someone does the same with our seats!

You've got a great attitude. If I had our bus broken into 3 times I would be far less jovial.

i like it, but i'm worried that the bear would poo up the inside of my bus before these guys got around to breaking in again.

'don't touch my stick!"

The main problem is finding a place to mount it where it doesn't get stolen, too!
What about a trail cam that hunters use?
I got a Moultrie IR game cam at Y'all Mart for @ $60-70.
Resolution could be better, but it will capture images on the darkest of nights. The sensors' range is 60' or so.
Higher priced game cams have a wireless option.

Idk where your home base is but I got mine parked at the storage lot by Northeast Airport. $100/mo and they have about 100 cameraand 24/7 security.

I was at Port Richmond Self-Storage which was fenced and theoretically guarded 24/7, but the other users of the lot never locked the gate and one time they even cable-tied their key to the fence right next to the lock (too lazy to make duplicate keys). $200/mo was harsh but they had electricity and allowed me to work on the bus while I did not have a registration and insurance on the vehicle. But I would definitely not recommend it to anyone, although being a quarter mile from a Home Depot and a Lowe's was awfully convenient.

I've since moved it down to Delco near where I live for $75/mo. And there's even an Ace Hardware directly across the street. No electricity but fortunately I already have two generators, plus I can sometimes drive the bus to my house to work on it there.

Vehicles parked off the street are not required to be inspected. Mine sits at the storage lot and I’ve taken it out to work on it and get tires and such. I could technically get a $50 ticket if I were to get pulled over. Now that is half painted I’m more likely to get stopped so I have an appointment to get it I inspected hopefully next week. Plus most campground require a current inspection sticker

I found well placed glue traps and monofilament make crackheads miserable.
That is if your goal is to catch rats.
