I've been perusing the skoolie now for about a year now. I bought a Ward Volunteer 1990 school bus about a year ago as well. It was already gutted and the headliner was already done. I am somewhat a procrastinator, but it usually works out for the best. I like to draw and look at others to get ideas and to change what I am thinking. Anyway, I am starting working on the framework of the interior now. I am going to sandblast the exterior. Should I do this first or does it really matter? The bus is a six Windows/ 7.2 diesel automatic. I look forward getting it out on the road for its maiden voyage.

Welcome. Careful with sandblasting. Your skin will get wrinkly.

Try soda blasting....takes off the paint and rust, still gets all over the place but it's not painful and rinses off and out better than sand and sand-like compounds (black-beauty, etc.).

Unless you are cleaning things up due to rust, why are you sand blasting?

All you need to have a new paint adhere is to scruff up the current paint and then paint over. Unless it has been painted with something like house paint. If that is the case it will need to be blasted by something or a good automotive paint will never adhere properly.
