Hello!

First, it's SO nice to feel less insane. Everyone thinks I'm nuts when I tell them I'm looking at busses to convert into a tiny home.

Second, I need a bit of help!
I'm ok with a 6' ceiling, but the boyfriend is 6'3". Which busses tend to come with a higher ceiling? I would really love to not need to raise the roof at all, as I'm looking at adding a roof deck, and have very tiny finances.

Hello and thank you in advance!

Many of the Thomas buses have higher ceilings.

My bluebird is just over 6' and my hair brushes the ceiling. It does not bother me at all, but I'd not enjoy having to bend my neck to walk through the bus.

Agreed! I'd love to find something at least 6'3" in height.
Thank you for the reply! I'm SO excited to get started, but I find deciding on THE bus is the hardest part.

Do take your time deciding. Read, question and go see for yourself as much as possible. There are plenty of buses to choose from. First figure out what your "dream" is...then do the homework necessary to find the best bus you can afford that fills your bill. If you can get that first part right, the rest will fall into place fairly easily. Be picky!

Best of luck on your hunt.

Where are you located in Indiana? If you are close to the Elkhart area, you can score a ton of inexpensive surplus stuff for your ride, and if you can pick it up, save a boatload on shipping costs!

I'm not too far from Elkhart! What is this surplus place of which you speak?

I find them on ebay, just type in rv window or whatever you need and look at the seller's location, you can then contact them directly and pick it up usually from them. To buy surplus from the factory you'd have to buy a bulk quantity, and I am sure you don't want 37 vent hoods sitting in your garage! ;-)

The guy I bought my 100 gallon fresh water tank from, was in Plymouth.

Hey there,
Also from Indiana. Nice to meet you and good luck on your bus. I'm getting the same reaction!

I'll be in Elkhart soon(week or two) to pick up the Air-conditioning system for my Bus!

dont alot of the thomas's have taller ceilings? esp wheelchair accessible busses ?

I've been noticing that. I'm really eyeing up a caterpillar right now. If I can find one cheap enough I'm probably going to go for it. :)
