We are starting our conversion now and will be wrapping up on demo shortly and shifting into the build process. I reached out to Good Sam about getting insurance and was told that National General insures school bus conversions, as long as you don't live in it full time. That option didn't work because unfinished bus conversions are not covered in the state of MN. Then they tried to go through Forerunner as a tiny home or rv and was told that we will most likely be declined during underwriting because it was saying "ineligible". Reached out to geico about commercial insurance for private use and was told we would need to get our CDL, but doesn't sound like that would even guarantee coverage. Right now we're really just looking for liability. It will be sitting on our families property for months during the build and we only want to drive it short distances, if necessary, but really just want to get comfortable driving it. It sounds like we'll be able to move forward once the actual conversion is complete or meets the requirements, but not sure to to make it street legal in the meantime. Any suggestions on how to move forward?
