Hey Everyone,

Some time back there was a post here with a video (I think??) detailing rivet removal using an air chisel, punch and grinding a particular profile on a chisel for cutting the heads off.

I thought that I had bookmarked it. I didn't. I searched for it and could not find it.

I set out today hoping that I could remember enough from what I read months ago.

I did my best to follow what I remembered. I spent about 2 1/2 hours punching and cutting rivets. I pulled 3/4 of the ceiling down in that time. It worked GREAT!!

I would suggest that we make that elusive post a sticky. It is a very effective method of removing interior rivets.

I have one thing to say to the OP of this method:

Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!!

I don't think I "invented" it by any stretch, but I've been telling folks to drive out the mandrels and shear off the rivets for years now.
Works like a charm, especially with a sharpened air chisel and a beefy compressor. Or even a wimpy compressor.

Would this be the vid in question? Easiest method I've seen by far.
