Is there anything worth saving from the seats?

I'm solo, disabled, and don't have much access to electric, so getting the seats out is quite a slow process. So far I've been able to get 5 seats totally out and used the bottom cushions from about 8 of them to make a temporary sleeping space that is softer than the floor (I can't put in an actual mattress until I get more seats out.)

I took one seat apart just to see what's inside, and the fabric is fire-resistant. Is there any use for this fabric, or any other part that would be worth saving from the seats?

The metal frames worth in the neighborhood of $5-$6/100lbs. Between seat frames, ceiling panels, and wall panels paid $60 at the scrap yard.

I am envious of you guys that get paid for scrap. We usually have to pay to dump it. A couple of ceiling panels, heaters and that chunk that I cut out of my rear cap will probably cost me about $18 to get rid of.

And to think that THEY are turnning around and selling it to recyclers after you pay them to take it!

The seat metal has been ut to use in a number of ways. There is even a thread on the subject of "How have you repurposed your seats".

We made our sub mattresses with them. Topped with memory foam toppers and they make for a comfy bed.

It was some work but I broke them down completely and recycled the metal, kept the foam, trashed the covers and plywood.

Where are you located, there are a number of recyclers in Wenatchee

I am in Dayton. Wenatchee is about 3-1/2 hours from here.

There is a recycler in Pasco. A bit over 70 miles away. Round trip I use 11-12 gallons of fuel @ $3.59 a gallon. So roughly $42 in fuel and about 2-1/2 hours drive time.

I could haul it up there but I would be upside down once you account for time, fuel and wear & tear on my truck.

How about this place in Dayton? Oops, Dayton, Oh.
