So, I just submitted a bid on a bus. The auction hasn't even closed yet (Thurs). I'm already wondering "oh 5hit, what did I just do?!!?". What am I going to do if I actually win this damn thing? I'm going to have to fly to TX to get it.How much is it going to cost me to drive it 1,407 miles home? Then I'm going to have to find a place to park it. And then what?!!!?

2003 International School Bus; 87k Miles, 78 pax, FE

:banghead::confused::dance: all at the same time.

this bus do about 8 miles a gallon give and take, you can sleep in rest area. truck stop is safer :):)

Some of this Truck stop have RV parking.,put fuel and get a free shower. and have dinner and go to sleep. 55mph x 10hr = 550 miles= time to rest Have Fun:):):)

I'm a backpacker so I'm used to 25 sq ft shared with the gf and her two dogs. I have a sleeping bag that is rated to 15° that I have yet to test out. A bus in a rest/truck stop parking lot??? That's a mansion!! I'll be fine for overnight.

Also forgot to mention, HOW AM I GOING TO PAY FOR THIS THING?!!? I've got $1,000 sitting in the savings account. The 27th is pay day. There goes another $1,000 out of that. So much for paying down the credit card.

TX, AZ, ... any place I have a people and isn't in the Rust Belt. Hopefully we aren't bidding against each other.

And as far away from the exporters as possible. The more they have to pay to get em a thousand miles or so home, the better chances they won't bid as aggressively.

Um, I'm fairly certain TX and AZ are on a border with another country.:whistling:

I am hoping for some more info on the VA bus. Called the school maintenance shop and the guy wasn't sure why it had been marked as having a bad tranny. It came in in Aug and was inspected. In Oct it was added to the surplus list. The note was added at that time. So maybe it was just a checkbox to get rid of it easy? The guy is supposed to pull the reports and email them to me.

Right. But whoever is exporting from FL is paying as much as required to buy virtually every bus and ship them to wherever. CRAPPY buses go for BIG bucks here. Maybe the quick flip dealers in Tampa and South FL help with the high prices as well. Cat engine conventionals with lots of miles and barely any maintenance go for ten grand around here all day.

Buying more than one I guess it's cheaper to literally ship them. From TZ, NM, AZ it's easier/cheaper to drive them?

Insurance from Progressive using a commercial policy for non-commercial use is $450/6 months or $900/12 months. I need a 6 DAY policy.
