I'm new to everything, want to buy a school bus, but couldn't find a good one. Today, i checked out one bus, 2008 Ford E450, 6 window.
The following is the picture showing the rear end.

is this too bad? can we fix it? or forget it?

the following is the middle section of the bus.

seems to be ok?

I got another concern, i notice, when the engine is running, there is a bit of engine oil dripping, like 1 small drop every few minute. Is that something we can fix? or it's a big concern?

There are no pictures, so hard to comment on the rust. In general, you'll want to poke and prod with a blunt metal rod and see if it firm or not.

Per the oil, Yes, any obvious leak is important. Per can it be fixed, yes, it's just a matter of $$$.

The first thing you have to determine is the source of the leak. My oil pan plug has a drip. Besides having to try and remove the plug, cover the hole, add a new plug gasket, then reinsert the plug without becoming oil soaked, I may just wait until the next oil change.

If it's coming from somewhere up high and you cant track it, then you have to have someone determine what the issue is.

if that E450 is a diesel be very wary of it..

the 6.0 diesel can be problematic.. it can be made a good engine by bulletproofing however that will cost a couple grand to do it right...

the 6.4 diesel was a complete disaster and should be avoided..

the 6.8 V10 gasoline engine was a fuel-drinker.. in some years they had issues with spark plug bore failure.. I *think* the issue was resoved by that year..

Thanks for the information. So, Ford E450 is not really a good choice if it's 6.0 diesel, or 6.4 diesel. Do you have any recommendation for a short bus? Thanks

On this site you can't post pics directly until you've made at least 5 posts. You can post links to pics hosted elsewhere like on imgur (I think). It's a safety feature to prevent annoying spam bots.

Another safety feature is that you can’t post URLs until you’ve got a few posts. Or rather, until you’ve got a few posts, URL posts get flagged for moderator review before they’re visible. Which is what’s been happening to you, it looks like. (And I’ll delete the duplicate thread…)
