The next question is what is best location to jack the rear of the bus. I did some searching, there is a lot of answers on blocking but could not find much on jacking.

I have a 24' International 3700 bus. 12,500 empty weight. Can I jack the bus using the point where the leaf springs attach to the axle?

I picked up some 6 ton jack stands and an air over hydraulic bottle jack.

To jack on the frame would require lots of height under the jack stands and jack.

Thanks

Joe

Depends what you are doing. I have lifted by the spring, and the frame above the spring, and the axle. I don't know that I would do it directly by the spring hanger, but depends on the situation.

I have jacked my bus up at the rear with just a bottle jack on the bottom diff u-bolt saddle.

Do NOT do it on the housing itself. I've seen it push through the housings......on loaded trucks. I hate the thought of lifting it on an empty truck.

Thanks all, I am jacking to pull the axle to check the number of teeth on the spline, and then later to do the brakes and replace a tire.

Looks like some 4 "x 6"'s are in order.

I always go under the axle, never the frame.
