Just lost panel lights

I just lost all instrument panel lights and switch lights - poof! (The interior lights that come on when you turn on your parking lights at night.)

Does this sound like a fuse? If so, look for "panel" or something else? And would this be in the driver's elbow fuses or the stairwell/firewall set?

Do you have a pull out type headlight switch? Try turning it because it's also a dimmer switch.

No, it's a three-position rocker (off, running lights, headlights+runninglights).

I had the running lights on, then hit the 'increase idle' rocker, and all of the panel lights went out.

Very hard to pinpoint your problem without removing the switch or gaining access to see what is going on. Could be condensation that tripped it or bad grounds.

Check connections for power with a meter

For many years the tail lamps and instrument panel lights were on the same fuse--sort of a heads up for safety if your tail lights were out at night. One more thing to check out. Jack

Tail lights are fine; instrument illumination is out. Can't find a conveniently-labeled fuse, though I did find a "panel lamp relay". Will put a meter on that tomorrow.

One switch light usually local to the switch all lights indicates fuse relay or switch failure. Also dimmers have a nasty habit of failing even the ones in the pull types.

One switch light usually local to the switch all lights indicates fuse relay or switch failure. Also dimmers have a nasty habit of failing even the ones in the pull types.

We found a "Panel lights" relay in a second fuse box under the dash. We swapped it with its brother and got the lights back. Thanks!
