Keeping inside of bus cool

A few people mentioned painting the roof white but mines was already white when I got it. Are you assuming it was yellow or are you suggesting repainting it with a more effective paint?

Many school buses, especially from Southern States, come with white roofs. It's an attempt to keep the interiors cool on hot days, and we get a lot of them.

Usually though it is simply white paint, because paint looks better than the more effective alternatives.

My roof is yellow (It cam from Nebraska). When I get to it I will cover it with white, elastomeric paint. That coating won't look quite as nice as a shiny white paint job, but it will provide additional sealing for all the roof seams. It is modestly priced and easy to apply.

My heat pump went out on my house and while I couldn't afford a replacement at the time I purchased a similar to this portable 110v A/C. I sits in the living room with 16' ceilings. While it doesn't cool the whole room, it keeps the area around me comfortable when it is 90+ in the house. I believe it would be much more efficient in a bus.
