While trying to come up with a way to lock my front door, I stumbled across a pretty cool system to make my door "lockable" and keyless/automatic without air.
Originally, my bus had the air actuated cylinder that, once you turned the bus off, the doors just kind of flopped open. I needed a way to keep them closed and preferably locked when not running. Long story short, I opted to go with an electric linear actuator in place of the air powered one.
While looking for actuators, I came across a company called Progressive Automation (I have no affiliation and they aren't paying me squat for this post). They have actuators of all sizes and forces and some aren't able to be back-driven when not powered, essentially "locking" the door.
To take it a step further, they have a remote operated control box that you can wire in and make your doors open from a key fob!
For redundancy, I added a switch on the dash and in case of the battery in the key fob failing, I added a switch inside the locking compartment under the drivers window.
Here are a few pic of the install, just wanted to post this to help out someone looking to do the same thing in the future.
