You coulda done a build thread for me, scary the similarities.
I also chose 01 e450 PS for the same reasons (only replace Jeep with toyota buggy) that was rusted to **** and back. Bus was from Michigan and entire floor had to be ripped out from the firewall to the taillights. Took 2 months of cutting, replacing and welding.
I'm now 99% complete with only the shower left to tile. Now have 2 trips under its belt, last week pulled my 16 ft. trailer and 3.2k lb rig on a 450 mile round trip. It's fer sure no rocket but it'll get the job done well enough. I'm thinking a chip will be in its future but not until I'm confident it'll get the intended job done reliably.
