I concur with Smitty. The lower 48 may be a bit further away, but the prices are cheaper, there's less corrosion to worry about (the '81 looks like a beater to me, I have an '88 in great shape, just needed to replace two u-bolts, no biggie), and, depending upon where you get yours, a complete vehicle maintenance history. There's a really clean one on Lemons Auctioneer's website selling for $2K, '91 with a diesel, low milage, and no rust or corrosion in Texas. The county garage does their own maintenance and keeps records. If I didn't already have mine I'd be going for this one. Just a thought.
