Hey everyone. I recently purchased a piece of land and this bus was part of the deal. I am trying to figure out anything I can about it. I have zero bus knowledge and don't really know what to look for. I am trying to decide If it has value for a project or if it should just go to the scrap yard. I am thinking it might be too much work for a project for someone but, again, I really don't know. I appreciate any help/advice anyone is willing to share! Thanks

Yikes, this looks pretty rough! I don't know for sure, but it looks early 80s to me. If you pop the hood, there should be a sticker/label somewhere to give you more details. There might be a label too above the driver's seat. Good luck!

Awesome - thanks. Is there a hood release inside the cab or would this be a latch under the hood?

It's probably actually 2 latches ON the hood. See pic below. This sample is an '84 for reference. It's like a rubber bungie-ish cord latch, one on each side of the hood.

Wayne Lifeguard body. I can’t tell for sure from the pictures but it looks like elbow grease is its number-one need (even if only to assess its condition more accurately.)

The first thing I noticed: looks like good windshield glass unless there are cracks that don’t show in the photo.

If the chassis has a 17-digit VIN, then it’s a 1981 or newer. In that case you can search it on oreillyauto.com, like this:

On O’Reilly’s home page, top right, there’s a link, “Select or Add Here.” On that screen there’s the Search by VIN option. The number in my example is for a 2013 IC Corporation CE School Bus, 7.6 L diesel.

Agree, Wayne Works body. Wayne went bankrupt about 1990-1995. Chassis is S series international. Wheels look like “Dayton” wheels. Probably, 1980’s vintage. Nothing looks scary bad, looks like radiator shutters on the front. Usually an indication bus was first used in colder climates. Built in the era of 55 mph national speed limits. Likely only meant to 55 mph maximum. Telephone if you want to talk buses.7852077600.
